Careful Integration Into Our Canine Community
As much as we love all dogs at Doggie Kamp With Cats on the Side...., a temperature test is required to exclude dogs that are aggressive or disruptive to our staff or other dogs. Our procedure keeps dogs happy and getting along well It takes about an hour. It must be done prior to the dog’s first stay to ensures all dogs are safe and happy during their stay with us.
New clients bring their dogs (cats are excluded as they have a private play area) to our location for the temperament test. To make an appointment, all dogs must have current boarding shots including rabies, distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella, ( please get the shot method ). For safety, we must be sticklers with shots and waiting periods, so all pets must be vaccinated. The owner must show up in-person for pre-kamp. Please call me before you take your pets in for your shots so I can explain our preferred vaccines and methods.

Gradual Introductions to Other Dogs
All present dogs at our home are separated, while a new dog enters a large fenced yard to sniff around and get acclimated to the area. After this, our own dogs visit with the new dog one at a time to see if they will be friendly or aggressive. After they have met at least three of our own dogs successfully, then they are welcome to join all of the others.

Emergency Boarding Situations
If you need to board your dog with us in an emergency situation and there is no time for the temperament test, we'll keep your dog separated until time is available. If your pet is not sociable, your dog will stay in its own room with a dog door going out to its own large yard.
